![]() It was recently sold and taken over by a new couple, Kyle and Cara. The Riverside has been a standard for people kayaking the upper yough for several years. Great trip, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to tune out and relax for a while. I went fishing while the wife took a nap, and we went and ate at the highly recommended Mountain State Brewing Company. I fly fish, so I was happy to hear that the river was recently stocked with trout in front of the motel. We ate breakfast in Deep Creek, it was nice, but we were ready to come back and relax and get out of the hustle and bustle. The Town/Area: We did some exploring down around Swallow Falls, which is beautiful with snow on. We spent NYE playing cards and drinking in the dining room area. The shower and bathroom were more than adequate. The room was fully stocked with interesting books to read. They also gave us plenty of blankets, and it gave us an excuse to cuddle up a little closer. This was the coldest weekend this winter, and the owners did their best to keep the place warm with the pellet stove. The Room/Hotel: The room was pretty cold. Coming from a high stress job, and four kids to run around every day, it was nice to turn the phone off for 48 hours and chill out. It was so nice switching off for a couple of days and relaxing. If you are looking for frills, go stay somewhere else. The wife and I ran off for a couple of nights without the kids over New Years. Chris, the owner of the cafe, was very accommodating to my vegetarian diet. The gardens in the backyard were quite impressive and we cannot wait to come back to stay when they are serving dinner fresh from their garden.Īlthough we did not visit during a time that the kitchen was open, there was a wonderful cafe right next door, the Water Street Cafe. It's in a quaint little town, but everything that we needed was available to us. ![]() If you are looking for a more unique experience outside of resorts and chain motels like we were this is definitely the hotel to stay at. Agnes was very friendly and accommodating, the hotel itself has been beautifully restored, and we felt at home instantly! (The view of the river from our room didn't hurt either!) The hotel was only about 40 minutes from Fallingwater and ended up being more than we imagined it would be. We chose the Riverside Hotel after searching for a place to stay for a weekend getaway to see Fallingwater. ![]() Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort.Hotels near Youghiogheny Overlook Welcome Center.Hotels near Upper Youghoigheny Expeditions Inc.Hotels near Precision Rafting Expeditions.Hotels near Friendsville Interactive History Tour.
